Textiles, Arts and Crafts Department Adds New Quilting Category

Spencer, IA – The 2011 Clay County Fair premium books are now available!  Premium books for Creative Activities, Creative Culinary, Horses, Fields & Gardens and Livestock can picked up at the Clay County Fair Administration Office, downloaded from our website at http://www.claycountyfair.com/agprog/forms.htm or request to have one mailed to you by calling 712-262-4740.

The Clay County Fair’s Creative Living Textiles, Arts and Crafts department is excited to announce the addition of a new quilting category of Machine Quilting: fair theme: “Can’t Get Enough.” The category is sponsored by At the of Heart Quilting, a sewing machine and equipment seller specializing in Gammill machines.

The Fair Theme category aims to demonstrate the quilter’s creative abilities and bring our fair theme of “Can’t Get Enough” to life. Entries will be judged on general appearance, design, machine quilting, and workmanship.

Four size categories will be offered for Fair Theme including: wall hanging, baby or youth quilt, twin or double quilt, and queen or king quilt.

Awards will be given by At the Heart of Quilting of Beloit, Wisconsin and Des Moines, Iowa. One grand prize winner will receive $100.00, and one winner from each size category will receive $25.00.

In addition to the new machine quilting category, there are many other categories in creative activities that everyone is welcome to enter in including; photography, needlework, knitting, woodcarving, and many others!  We encourage you showcase your talents by exhibiting at the 2011 Clay County Fair!
