Hit-makers Three Dog Night, to appear with special guest Jay and the Americans at 2010 Fair
Spencer, Iowa – Three Dog Night, a group that has captivated fans for generations, will be appearing at the Clay County Fair on Sunday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Grandstands with special guest Jay and the Americans.
Three Dog Night saw success early on with several hit songs in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. The band dominated the charts garnering numerous Billboard Number One hits including, “Mama Told Me (Not To Come)”, “Joy to the World” and “Black and White”. The group was such a sensation from 1969 to 1974, that during that time no other group had more Top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets.
The band recorded music from some of the best songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others.
Over the years, Three Dog Night has had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including three Number One singles, 11 Top 10’s, 18 straight Top 20’s, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. Their songs have stretched across all genres of music with records sold throughout the world.
Jay and the Americans will appear as special guests to Three Dog Night on Sunday, September 12. From 1962 to 1971, Jay and the Americans had an unprecedented 12 Top 10 records and had 20 songs that charted during that same time period. The early rock and roll sound of Jay and the Americans included hits like “She Cried”, “Only In America”, “Come a Little Closer”, “This Magic Moment” and “Cara Mia”.
Tickets for Three Dog Night with special guest Jay and the Americans, will be $31 stage front standing, $26 reserved grandstand seating and $21 reserved annex seating.
Grandstand mail-in and online ticket sales begin June 21, 2010. All mail-in and online ticket orders received between June 21 and July 3 will be filled in random order with the best available seating. Phone ticket orders will begin July 12, 2010. The Grandstand Box Office will begin window ticket sales on July 19, 2010.
