Kids invited to showcase special talents at 2010 Clay County Fair
Spencer, Iowa – "Kids Got Talent" will take to the stage on Kids Day at the Fair, Friday, September 17 in the Clay County Fair 4-H Auditorium.
Kids in grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 will have a unique opportunity to showcase their special talents at the 2010 Fair. This year, they will not just be showcasing their musical talent, but other talents that they may have are also welcome. At 1:00 p.m. 5th and 6th graders will perform and then at 2:30 p.m. 7th and 8th graders will perform. Kids in these grades are encouraged to sign up and can do so by contacting Kaye Price at 712-262-5935. Talents of all forms are welcome and kids are encouraged to participate.
In addition to the kids talent showcase, the 4-H Auditorium will also be home to various "Chef of the Day" presentations Monday, September 13 through Friday, September 17. Monday's Chef will be Jeremy Neppl of LaChiesa in Spencer presenting "Italian at the River". Tuesday's "Chef of the Day" will feature cookbook author Linda Burgett of Aztec, New Mexico presenting "My Kind of Cooking – Quick and Easy Recipes". Wednesday brings Chef Margo Sievers and Chefferettes – Nancy Binder, Kathy Reiling, Sherri Coffee and Lori Madsen all of Sioux Rapids with "We're Not Going to Fool Ya...We're Not Quite Julia". Thursday has two "Chef of the Day" presentations; one from Executive Chef Adam Hunt of the Clay County Regional Events Center with "Cooking Demo with Adam" and the other with Chef Allison Hill of Algona with "Daily Bread Bakery – We Have What Your Body Kneads". The final "Chef of the Day" presentation brings Chef Mitch Irby and Owner Chad Pleuger of Cabernet Catering/Legends Events of Spencer.
Adult Presentations will also take place throughout the week in the 4-H Auditorium. Monday afternoon features Vietnam Veteran Tim Brinkley with "We Were Ahead When I Left and We Are Still Winning Today", Brigadier General Allen Batschelet with "We're Serving America" and entertainment from Denise Shipler performing "Our Vets Rock". On Tuesday South Clay Teacher of the Year Donna Goebel will present "Education In Washington D.C." Later in the afternoon Lee Schoenewe will speak on "Bird Watching and Listening: Identifying NW Iowa Birds" and entertainment will be provided by Dennis Winkie and Jerry Roberts with "Friends" later in the afternoon. Wednesday brings Little Swan Lake Winery with "Iowa Made Wine…Local and Fine", Iowa Lakes Regional Director for the Alzheimer's Association Kelly Schultz presenting "The Magic of Maintaining Your Brain" and entertainment by Flutist Deb Jepson, Pianist Elina Ozolins and Clarinetist Janet Boyens with "Take Time to Enjoy the Music". Thursday Gayle DeLoss will take to the stage with "Yoga, It's For Every Body" and afternoon entertainment will be Bill Hansen singing "Sing of Faith, Love, Hope and Swing".
