Celebrity Apprentice finalist and Poison front man, Bret Michaels, to appear at Clay County Fair

Spencer, Iowa – Bret Michaels Roses & Thorns World Tour 2010, will perform in front of the Grandstands at the Clay County Fair on Sunday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. with special guest Attention opening the show.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Michaels’ found success as a performer in the mid-1980’s with the hair-band Poison. The group’s first album, Look What the Cat Dragged In, gained surprising success making it to the Billboard charts with; “Talk Dirty to Me”, “I Want Action” and “I Won’t Forget You”.

Michaels’ group followed up with a second album in 1988 called Open Up and Say…Ahh!. The album peaked at Number Two on the Billboard charts and went to sell eight million copies worldwide. It garnered a Number One hit entitled “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and two hits in the top 10 on the Billboard charts; “Unskinny Bop” and “Your Mama Don’t Dance”. 

Flesh & Blood marked the group’s third album release in 1990. The album proved highly successful peaking at Number Two on the Billboard charts and selling more than seven million copies. It went multi-platinum and produced three gold singles; “Unskinny Bop”, “Ride the Wind” and “Something To Believe In”.

In 1998 Michaels career took a different path when he collaborated with actor Charlie Sheen to develop a production company. The duo released a film entitled Letters from Death Row, which Michaels starred in, wrote the screenplay and produced the soundtrack.

In the mid-2000’s, Michaels released two solo albums, Songs of Life and Freedom of Sound.

In February of 2007, Michaels went another direction with his career starring in the VH1 reality show, Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. After an unsuccessful love connection in season one, Michaels returned for a second season on Rock of Love in 2008. A third season was followed up with the show, Rock of Love Bus.

Most recently, Michaels has been a contestant on the NBC reality show Celebrity Apprentice. Michaels has persevered throughout the competition and continues to impress other contestants and “boss”, Donald Trump. He is currently a finalist in the competition going head-to-head with rival celebrity contestant, Holly Robinson-Peete. The two will duke it out for the title of 2010 Celebrity Apprentice on NBC this Sunday, May 23.

Minneapolis native band, Attention, will appear with the Bret Michaels Roses & Thorns World Tour 2010. The group has released three studio albums entitled Stand Strong, Everything Takes Forever and Through the Wire. Recently, several songs from the Everything Takes Forever album have appeared on television shows aired on the networks MTV, E! and Oxygen.

Tickets for Bret Michaels Roses & Thorns World Tour 2010 with special guest Attention, will be $34 stage front standing, $29 reserved grandstand seating and $24 reserved annex seating.

Grandstand mail-in and online ticket sales begin June 21, 2010. All mail-in and online ticket orders received between June 21 and July 3 will be filled in random order with the best available seating. Phone ticket orders will begin July 12, 2010. The Grandstand Box Office will begin window ticket sales on July 19, 2010.
